Feng Zhengjie

Born in Sichuan province in 1968, Feng Zhengije graduated from the Education Department of the Sichuan Academy of Fine arts in 1992, where he continued his studies and received his M.F.A. in oil painting in 1995. He currently lives in Beijing.

Since his first solo exhibition at Capital Normal University in 1996, he has held numerous solo exhibitions all over the world in countries such as Canada, France, Norway and Korea, including selected group exhibitions namely The Second and Third Chinese oil Painting Exhibition, Beijing (1994; 1995); Rouges, Loft Gallery, Paris (2001); The First Chengdu Biennale (2001); The First Guangzhou Triennial (2002); International Biennale of Contemporary Art, Prague (2005) and Basel International Contemporary art fair, Basel, Switzerland (2006); The Thermocline – New Asian Waves, ZKM Museum of Contemporary Art, Karlsruhe, Germany (2007); Intimate Trend – Painting from Sichuan and Taiwan, Kundau Museum of Fine Arts. Taipei (2008). Feng Zhengije is one of the most established artists of the Gaudy Art generation, which emerged during the mid-1990s.
