Pascale Guillou is a French-born artist based in Bilthoven, The Netherlands.
Her work ranges from minimalist line drawings to more complex portraits. Pascale Guillou’s art is characterised by an expressive, fluid yet minimalist line work, using a limited colour palette. Her approach is purely intuitive and gestural as she doesn’t sketch before applying ink or acrylic paint onto large paper sheets or canvases. Her lines are an immediate and intimate projection of a desire for emotional connection. It ranges from feminine and sensual to rough and deconstructed.
Louise Bourgeois, Fabienne Verdier, Tracey Amin, Helaine Blumenfeld, Tamara de Lempicka and Henri Matisse are some of the artists that have influenced her work.
Pascale Guillou is a self-taught artist. In 2021 she put an end to her freelance career as corporate illustrator and graphic designer to start exclusively focusing on autonomous work. She has had several collective and solo exhibitions in Amsterdam and Utrecht since then.
