Jack Milroy’s materially far-ranging practice reflects his profound fascination with life’s absurdities and ambiguities. A graduate of the Scarborough School of Art and the University of London, Milroy has been an active part of the London art scene since the 1970s. Milroy’s interest in the everyday, and his satirical sense of humor, puts his work in conversation with other British Pop artists. In the 1970s, he began developing his signature cut-out style, initially deconstructing found objects such as stamps and newspapers for two-dimensional collages. He later created vast, delicate paper sculptures intricately crafted from book pages. Though best known for these cut-out works, Milroy’s practice also spans drawing, printmaking, and assemblage. His work has been exhibited widely across the U.K., including in the Arts Council England’s “British Art Show” and at London’s Serpentine Galleries.
